REFLEXOLOGIST
Reflexology is a gentle, holistic therapy, meaning that it treats your whole body through reflexes - I work with reflexes in the feet and hands. As a reflexologist, I work to rebalance your physical body and emotional state through your feet (or hands) so after a treatment you are likely to experience a feeling of deep relaxation and well being.
The deep relaxation experienced through reflexology allows the bodies ‘fight and flight’ nervous system to take a break and the ‘rest and digest’ nervous system kicks in. This allows your own body to help and heal itself, reducing stress hormones and aiding digestion. The massaging effect of reflexology also improves both cardiovascular and lymphatic circulation.
Healing the body through the hands and feet dates back thousands of years - there is evidence of hand and foot massage in an Egyptian tomb from approximately 2330 BC. Modern reflexology is based on the theory that the foot is a map of the body - the body is divided into zones and imbalances in one part of a zone can be addressed by working another part of the zone.
Indian Head Massage, as you would expect, has its origins in India, where traditional techniques have been used as part of family ritual for thousands of years. Traditionally based on the ancient system of medicine known as Ayurveda, Indian Head Massage supports the approach to health that we must balance the body, mind and spirit.
Though Indian Head Massage was carried out on the Indian subcontinent on the head only, it has been Westernised to include the back, shoulders, arms, neck and face. Incorporating all of these allows the treatment to expand from solely nourishing the hair and scalp to a more holistic stress management treatment.
A popular and fast growing treatment, it has many physiological and psychological benefits such as increasing blood and lymphatic flow, relaxing muscles decreasing inflammation, releasing endorphins and many more.
This relaxing, holistic facial massage focuses on the marma points (energy junctures) of the face, using grounding rhythmic movements to help naturally lift the face and encourage lymph drainage.
The treatment includes a cleanse and face mask and then a slow rhythmic face and head massage.
